Melanie is a Sheffield born and based professional actress, writer and theatre maker / event organiser.
She graduated with a First Class Honours Degree from the Performance for Stage and Screen Course from SHU.
Described as a “one woman army”, Melanie has single-handedly set up her own event; “Sheffield Monologue Showcase (SMS)” that premiered last March, with feedback noting of it’s success. Her recent work in acting has been voice over work for an international art installation in Venice and compering for talent at the “SMS” evening.
Melanie is also known for writing for the stage with her most note-worthy piece “The Sylvia Swing” performed at the York Theatre Royal’s Take Over Festival and The Lantern Theatre’s New Writers Festival in Sheffield.
In her early creative career, Melanie has produced and starred in her own one woman show; “Trompe L’oeil” as well as producing “SOS FEST” a local Sheffield New Writing Festival, appeared on BBC’s Tomorrow’s World as well as featuring numerous times on local radio stations BBC Radio Sheffield, Sheffield Live and Write Radio, and occasionally performs as her cabaret-style alter ego “Mardi B” for which she came in 3rd place at the Great Yorkshire Show Off Contest.
Melanie continues to act, write and organise her own events in the Sheffield and Yorkshire region with hopes to keep bringing members of the creative community together in a positive and practical environment and looks to maintain longevity in a creative career.
Some of Melanie’s interests include meeting new artists, watching theatre of all kinds, anything to do with the 80’s and walking in the beautiful surroundings of nature.
